Things you can check to be sure there aren’t any leaks in your roof
Filed under Home ImprovementDec 27As the winter and the rain and snow season approaches for most people it is time to think about your roof. The roof is really an essential part of your home that everybody can’t live without. But it really is overlooked by so many people. The time that people do eventually take notice is when it finally needs repairs or has to be replaced. But with winter quickly coming it wouldn’t be wise for people to wait for that. So here are some ways to make sure your roof doesn’t have a leak.
First thing you want to do is make sure you know the difference between a leak and a condenstion spot. We get calls all the time for my Poway roofing company for people who think they have a leak. But once we do get to look at the house we see that it really isn’t a leak but caused by condensation. The simple way to tell on whether or not it is condensation is condensation doesn’t have a design. Now a true leak you will find makes a circular shape. So if the spot you find is circular in shape that is a sign that it is a leak.
The thing you want to check next are weak areas of your roof.Places such as chimneys are areas that are weak spots of the roof and it leaks there a lot. In our Vista roofing service we always check those areas because it is so common that it leaks there. It is an easy fix by just making sure you seal that area.
Finally you are going to want to look for all the spots penetrated by a nail. So often when people are nailing the roof in that those nail spots don’t get sealed. This is the cause of leaks that we find in my Encinitas roofing service. This is another quick fix when you find the spot you can just seal it up.
So those were some of the ways you can use to be sure this winter you don’t have any roof leaks.
